Chaperone Duties
There are three divisions of chaperones for a football game for which anyone may
volunteer to help:
A. "Before Game" Chaperones: requires at least 3 people
These chaperones are in charge of the following before the games and usually need to arrive at or before call time for the Band. Duties are as follows:
1. Get round water coolers out of uniform room and fill with ice and water from cafeteria. Take coolers to the equipment truck for away games and to the stadium for home games.
2. Get seat covers out of the uniform room and for away games put on the bus with you to cover on the stadium bleachers. For home games, take the water coolers and the seat covers for the stadium bleachers at the same time. Seat covers go on every line with a break between woodwinds and brass.
3. For away games assist in loading of equipment vehicle if necessary.
4. Place rope to divide the Band section from the spectators? section for both away and home games
5. Also for away games, chaperones will be spilt among all student buses by the Chaperone Chairman or Vice President in charge. All chaperones that are riding the bus including the pit crew needs to see the chaperone chairman or VP in charge prior to departure so all buses can have equal distribution of chaperones. A designated chaperone on each bus will be asked to check student roles foe all students on board prior to departure.
6. Be ready and available as needed.
B. "During the Game" Chaperones: requires at least 4 people
These chaperones will ride the bus for away games and need to arrive at school for away games at the call time for the Band, for home games, arrive around 6:45 p.m. Duties are as follows:
1. Pass out water to the Band as required upon their arrival and seating in the stands.
2.Monitor the stands to make sure only Band members and chaperones are in the stands with the Band. There will be two chaperones at all times up at the top next to the drumline. There should also be two chaperones at the front of the Band to keep kids that are not with Band from distracting the Band at all times during the game.
3.Block the walkways when the Band starts down out of the stadium for the half-time show and when the Band returns to the stands.
4 If needed, assist the ?pit crew? with equipment for the half-time show.
5. Be ready and available as needed; every game has different needs.
C. "After the Game" Chaperones: requires at least 4 people
These chaperones do not have to arrive until half-time (around 8:00 or 8:30 p.m.) or for away games, these chaperones may ride the bus, but will not have to report until the end of the game. Duties are as follows:
1. Pick up the seat covers, fold them and place in storage bags. For home games, bring the seat covers back to the Band Room and place in the uniform room. For away games, ensure all seat covers are in their storage bags and on the equipment truck.
2. Empty all coolers and for home games take them to the Band Room and place them in the uniform room. For away games, ensure all coolers present (usually four) are placed on the equipment truck and are then removed from the equipment truck upon arrival at CHS and placed in the uniform room.
3. Make sure all trash is picked up and the Bandstand area is clean.
4. Assist the Equipment crew with ensuring all equipment is on the equipment vehicles and all is ready for departure.
5. Also for away games, chaperones will be spilt among all student buses by the Chaperone Chairman or Vice President in charge. A designated chaperone on each bus will be asked to check student roles foe all students on board prior to departure.
6.Be ready and available as needed.

For those who cannot attend the games but would still like to help either before or after a game, we can still use your help
BEFORE GAMES: We need people to help with the distribution of the uniforms before the game ? reporting time would be 5:00 p.m. for home games and 4:30 p.m. for away games. Meet at the uniform room in the Band Room.
AFTER GAMES: We also could use your help with the collection of the uniforms at the end of the game. This would be around 10:00 p.m. for home games. The return time for away games will be between 30 and 60 minutes later. Meet at the uniform room in the Band Room.
For either one of the above we would need 6 volunteers.
PLEASE NOTE: Chaperones are present to manage and meet the needs of all of the Band students; they are to make sure that all students are treated equally and make sure that parents do not provide an item for just their child during the game.
